Whilst I'm reading about rising debt levels in the UK on a broadsheet and how to get rid of the extra kilos you put on, I smile to myself as I have transferred a decent sum to my Cash ISA just before Christmas and I have lost weight...

Lots of walking. I was a bit puzzled that I did not seem to lose any a month ago despite all the effort since summer then it happend. I guess 5/6 miles walks uphill with hazelnuts and dried fruits to keep you going was bound to work after a while...

Now I've been unactive since 21st due to my calf strain so I need to go back into it very quickly eventhough I have not been excessive at all in term of eating and almost teetotal when it comes to booze (2 pints and half at lunch today with friends is my biggest drinking session in weeks...)

Well done (on both the money and the weight loss)! A good incentive to keep it up when your leg is better.

I went to the slimming club tonight (I haven't been weighed since 11/12/07) and I'm really pleased to say that I didn't gain any weight over the last three weeks. Twenty six people turned to be weighed and collectively they had put on 61 pounds - oops! I felt smug.

Walking is very good, I've been doing walking too. Not going for walks, I don't have time for such fripperies. But walking to and from places, you know.

Ditched the car, too.

My foot is a bit knackered though. Which is sad.

I've also extended my teetotal period through the four months mark now.

If you are going to do alot of walking, i would suggest you get some decent footwear.
Go to a specialist shop and get some walking boots or better still some running trainers tghat suit your foot type.
It will stop you getting niggles and strains and will leave you feeling less tired.

check out this site for some good training excersises

I've gone from 91 kg to 86kg this year but I've had to go running twice a week and swimming once a week todo it.

Bloody hard work.

I haven't saved any money though.

I had a similarly smug Christmas to Croute from the sounds of things. I been told I wasn't going to get paid in December cause I'd been off sick for too long, but in the end I got paid in full, plus the back-dated public sectot pay-rise they'd finally got sorted out. I've been doing loads of walking too, but my weight-related smugness comes from keeping extra weight on cause it used to just evaporate when I went running (which the doc told me not to go back to doing just yet).

I walked from the lovely Waterlow Park in Highgate down to Vauxhall today, which was not too different to my usual south-to-north walks, except I had to wait for ages in Tesco behind Noel Fielding and his missus while they were fannying around buying yoghurt. I only had a Boost.

Careful with that Boost - don't sneeze while you're eating it. I did once. Not nice.

I was thinking of buying some trainers, but how the fuck are you supposed to know which ones to buy?

Yeah, that's a pertinent question. I was always careful to use proper running shoes when I ran, but since I became a street-walking cheetah I've just been wearing normal grown-ups' shoes instead. I need a new tactic.

What happens when you sneeze with a Boost in your gob TonTon?

Yeah, that's what I should do, but that's really not going to happen. What I need is for there to be a half-decent pair that will suit me, without having to go through any hassle or humiliation to get them.
