...the good soldier Schweik

If there is one person in literature who I view as a role model and hero, it would be Schweik. I don't have the courage to do it, of course, but somewhere in the back of my mind, I'd like to think that one day I may head towards Schweikness.

Any other literary role models out there?

Actually, being serious I may go for Anthony Blanche. Unabashedly sensual and ferociously intelligent and perceptive.

For a long time I lived a very similar lifestyle to the main protagonist in William Kotzwinkle's The Fan Man, although I don't think I actually aspired to doing so.
