You can imagine what "passers-by" do to the signs welcoming you to the Fife village of Wormit, but this has got nothing to do with books.

When Kelly Holmes came back from her gold medal winning exploits in Athens, her home town staged a victory parade for her. While it was going on, she was accosted by a madwoman who had got a tattoo in tribute to her. It was across the shoulder blades and it said "KELLY HOMES".

In a similar vein to Taylor's, along the A49 a sign announcing that Craven Arms was the "Gateway to the Marches" had been rather amateurishly rendered as "Gateway to Mar s".

my dad claims that when he was in the navy the crew watched the movie "the satan bug" which so impressed one of the guys that he set off into hong kong, where the sub was moored, to get a tattoo in tribute. he returned with letters tattooed on his fingers in the classic "L-O-V-E H-A-T-E" fashion, only it read "S-T-A-N R-U-G-S".
