Castleton Gabriels have just recently emerged from the negative zone.

Maybe they should arrange a challenge match against these guys.

And a game in hand.

I love seeing names like "Oldham Town" in lower league tables. Not just your local suburb or village, but a proper alternative for 200,000 people (give or take), like a Bradford Park Avenue. Come on Town, put those Athletic upstarts in their place.

Our nearest pyramid rivals are Exeter Civil Service (or were, a while back). Not quite as catchy, that one.

Well, if you mean teams which make a rival claim for the support of the city as a whole by using the city name in the club name, I've no idea how far down the pyramid you'd have to go to find a rival to Leeds United. Certainly at least as far as non-league tier 7 (i.e. overall tier 11).

On the other hand, Leeds-based club Yorkshire Amateur, in non-league tier 6 (NCE Div 1) of course appear to claim the support of the entire county.

There's no other Rotherham club in the pyramid, but Maltby Main and Parkgate are in the North East Counties league. Rawmarsh Welfare were once of a reasonable size, and, I think, reached the F.A. Cup first round, before having to close in the seventies as Hill 60 (their ground) was dangerous.

There's Lincoln United who used to be managed by Keith Alexander - I think they got to the first round of the FA Cup a few years ago. There also used to be a Leicester United in the Southern League. They'd changed their name from Enderby Town in the 80s but went under a while ago.

You took over the competition in a franchise style cynical distortion of competition, though.

edit-to GO

Is Hill 60 where Rawmarsh st Josephs play these days?

They really fucked us over one time at under 11 level, by giving us a kick off time an hour early. We all arrived, start warming up, and wonder where they are. The changing rooms are all locked up, the place is a windswept bleak slag heap and we were freezing cold.

They arrived 5 minutes before the 'proper' kickoff and absolutely battered us. I was right back, marking matt hamshaw who unsurprisingly tore me apart.

Yeah, that's exactly what happened. Half-wit.
