I'm moving into a flat in three weeks time. I'll be sharing an appartment (one, coincidentally, previously owned by my sister) with a mate. This is pretty good as it is modern, nicely kitted out, has the full SKY package and all that. So it's better than this dive.

But Jesus. Get this. My mate just bought an actual babyfoot table. A fucking coin operated Garlando like they have in the pubs. I may never leave the house again.

Proper continental table football. 2-5-3 formation, and no spinning allowed.

And no glass top, if we're being really continental..?

They removed the babyfoot at my local, The Duke of Devonshire, Balham. Bad move.

Do you think the early models used actual babies feet?

Interstingly while we in the UK use the French word for the game, in the US they use a kind of anglicized German name - Foozball (sp?)

In Hungarian it's Csocso. (pronounced chocho)

No spinning, Rogin? I've always found that to be a stupid rule. With spinning allowed, I'm lethal. Without I'm just fairly good.

Categorically no-spinning G-man.

It’s a beautiful game of subtlety and guile; it’s not like whack-a-mole.

The DoD is nice isn't it...

It is indeed, Bo - though not what it was ten years ago. My 'posse' and I were given special dispensation to queue-jump on New Year's Eve, so I probably shouldn't say that. Good to know there's another SW12ite here, however.

TVMP...what's that cafe near you with a bank of 'em?

Sorry - with a bank of what? Babyfoot tables? The only place of which I can think that still has one is The Jackdaw & Rook (or maybe that snooker club into which I've not dared venture in eighteen years...)

Spinning in babyfoot is completely rubbish, I'm afraid.

Edit: Can't believe I used the word 'posse'.
