Excuse me please for watching 'They think it's all over' but Phil Tufnell just said of Harry Potter:

"He's a twat. Little glasses, always goes to school. Wanker."

I've not read any of the books. I've seen only part of one of the films (some giant lizard, and a parrot spitting on Harry) but jesus. What a brilliant point.

Any better than that?

He's Phil Tufnell. thicker than a triple thick pigshit milkshake. c*nt.

tonight was the first time i've seen They Think... since cultured David Gower and urbane Gary Lineker left, to be replaced by whooping twosome Tuffnell and Wright. it was never the most cerebral of shows, but watching it tonight was like a dose of electroconvulsive therapy.

I can't watch it. Hancock and McGrath make me physically sick. But as I felt physically sick tonight anyway, I braved it. It made me feel no worse, but certainly no better. Ian Wright looks like something that bursts out of your chest cavity in a sci-fi flick, doesn't he? I'm not comfortable with his transformation from odious, spiteful prick to hilarious family entertainer.

I used to like it. The ABU'ism that plagued the show early on were a bit of a let down but it had some great moments. Suffice to say I haven't seen an episode since 1997.

McGrath is an annoying little fuck but found him strangely amusing at the same time. The bald fella was amusing too but it was David Gower who really stole the show. Always made fun of, taken for a bufoon but he was quite funny without even knowing it and he wasn't even trying to be funny either. He was, for that half hour, the king of deadpan humour.

Nick Hancock should be executed forthwith.

I used to like this show, back in about 96-97, too. But now I'm convinced it's the worst show on television - tedious, unfunny, laddish bollocks. Is this down to me growing out of the show, or it getting worse? Probably a bit of both.

You mean there's a difference?

Best review ever?

Gigli

Peter Bradshaw in the Grauniad

You thought Ben Affleck was bad in Pearl Harbor? Oh no my friend. You thought he was abysmal in The Sum Of All Fears? Guess again.

Affleck and his putative fiancee Jennifer Lopez are awe-inspiringly, world-historically awful in this terrible comedy-thriller in which Affleck is a dorky Mafioso assigned to kidnap a teenage boy with learning difficulties: a mindblowingly offensive collection of Rain Man mannerisms from an actor who has the grace to look ashamed even as he gibbers and yelps.

Affleck has a minder attached to him by his superiors - a gorgeous mobstress, J-Lo. But wait! J-Lo's gay! But they get it on anyway and she reveals her predilection for oral pleasure by pointing between her legs and uttering the immortal line: "It's turkey time! Gobble, gobble, gobble!"

It's just so catastrophic I expected the audience to adopt the "brace" position in the stalls, as if on a crashing plane.

Also, Mercier's famous review of Beckett's "Waiting for Godot":

"Nothing happens. Twice."
