How does the fact that France's second goal vs Spain came through a free kick somehow diminish it? The third goal was on a counter, but Zidane went head to head against their best defender and put Puyol on the ground. It wasn't exactly an open goal, it was actually quite brilliant.

France beat the heavy favorites and two top five teams to get to the final. Italy went through room-temperature butter from Australia, the Ukraine and Germany.

Oh hang on, I do.

Quite shocking, CS, considering how much of a France fan you have been all along...

In the last few world cups the team that got taken to extra time and usually penalties in the semi has lost the final to the team that won theirs more easily.

Italy win win this. 2-0 in normal time, or 2-1 in extra time.

backed Italy before the tournament...with hindsight it was for all the wrong reasons as I bought the hype about the scoring prowess of Toni and Giludino ...

1-1 at 90 minutes and Italy to win in extra time...think they've got the fitness to outlast France..

Well I'm back from Cornwall.

Italians to win it. I think the French are riding the Zidane express, but it's run out of coal a stop too soon.
