That's rubbish. Either referees are impartial or they're not.
If they're not they shouldn't be refereeing.
It's the FA once again showing it has no balls.

Yeah, I'd agree with that.

I've always thought the fact that most referees seem to be from small places like Yeovil- rather than major cities- to be a bit odd. It seems a big price to pay to try and ensure neutrality. Which, of course, it doesn't anyway.

Yeh, that's nonsense. Referee's are most impartial at that level. You don't make it to the top league unless you're able to put allegiances aside and do your job in a total professional and impartial way. 'Home' referees is an outdated label, it's more of an issue when there's a history of controversy between a referee and a club. Mike Riley being appointed to the 2004 League Cup Final, after a number of high profile incidents in Bolton games was more of an issue than Dean's.

You lot don't understand the system. Referees in this country never referee a fixture that involves a club from their own county.

Then how come a ref from Surrey oversaw a match between Wimbledon and Rotherham at Selhurst Park on Easter Saturday, 2002? And, inevitabley, sent off one of our players.

Bad decision. There are exiled Liverpool fans (not that I'm slurring them) everywhere, in Totteridge as much as Tranmere.

Is Wimbledon in Surrey?!? It may have only been introduced recently... just telling you like it is today at the top.

What I am trying to say is that there is a lot of fuss about this when it is standard practice!

Neither Wimbledon or Selhurst Park are in Surrey. Both are in London, postcodes SW19 and SE25 respectively.
