No comments about the reports Seattle will be the 15th franchise in 2009?

A bit harsh on Portland, perhaps, but could be a big success if done properly.

On the Soccer by Ives blog. The Seattle Times has a report including a masterful non-denial denial.

On a related note, the Seattle Sounders won the USL title with a 4-0 victory over Atlanta. Bizarrely, the plan is apparently to disband the USL team for 2008, then create an MLS team from scratch in 2009 under the Sounders name.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES !

After 4 previous final losses - the New England Revolution win their first trophy in their 11 year history last night beating Dallas 3-2 in Dallas in the Open (read FA) Cup Final.

Get in.

Now for the Supporter's Shield and MLS Cup.

And the Red Sox to win the World Series.

The Pats to go 16-0

The Celtics are back.

The Bruins alas still suck.

Great Dallas goal (the first one) in that game.

Twellman looked like he should have had 4 or 5 in that game.

Wa-HEY !!! Take that !

TFC puts RBNY's playoff guarantee on hold with a plucky 2-1 victory at home, lifting them off the bottom of MLS standings for the first time in ages.

Amusing moment when ESPN cameras were trained on TFC fans singing 'Josie is a girl's name'.

'What are they singing ?'
'Josie is a girl's name'
'Hmm... well, yes it is'.

Typical of a Toronto team though. Effectively playing themselves out of post season contention before the season is two-thirds done, only to recover at the end and miss out by a slim margin (read : Blue Jays and Leafs).

Bring on the Rapids.

Bloody 'ell... I found this thread at the foot of page three.

Mo has let on that he's giving a trial to a 'player who has spent time in both the Premiership and La Liga, is currently between 31 and 33 years old, and out of contract.

Any thoughts on who that may be ?

I'm hoping it's Thomas Gravesen, although he doesn't really fit the definition of 'out of contract'.

Hopefully TFC can trip up the Gals tomorrow and just about end their playoff hopes.

In a related story (sort of) Danny Dichio's boots have fetched $13,000 at auction.

Apparently the offense did not feel it necessary to be bothered tonight against Chicago. Oh well, crush Columbus next week and the Shield is ours, since I really can't see Colorado dumping Chivas tomorrow.

Hugh, it could also be Ian Harte. Shudder.

Meanwhile, Colorado makes me look stupid by scoring twice while a man down at Chivas. 2-1 Rapids. Which means:

SHIELD. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES SIR!!!!!!!
