I'd be up for playing in the park if that's what we're doing but I have to say I'd much rather pay to hire a proper pitch with boundaries and proper goals.

Wuss.

Yeah I reckon I can do 5th too although anyone on my team will probably wish I couldn't.

Last summer (the last time I played football) I was outgunned, out paced and out fitnessed by a 54 year old.

I almost certainly can't do the 5th. However, I'm at the University of London, so can get the student discount BDG mentioned, if that's needed.

I hope that young, skinny and shit meets the criteria.

I think the shitness is the main thing, EBO. I should hear back from my student contact this morning. I'll see what he says and post an update later. Diggedy Derek mentioned he may be able to book a pitch at the Sobell Centre too (that's Finsbury Park yes?) so I guess we can compare prices and go for the cheapest option.

Smokin' Joe - good to have you aboard.

Dalliance - we'll try and get a tape of the game to you for tactical analysis.

I play over 35 five a side. My last goal in 11-a-side football was under Thatcherism, and even as a teenager I shared a nickname with Big Ron Atko (not Bojangles nor Racist Twat but Tank, I suppose I should add).

Good work, BDG.

I also ref in the League SJH plays in. Games involving Aberdeen supporters in the League are a welcome relief from everyone else calling me a fat, bent, deaf, blind, useless, Sc*tt*sh cnut. Heh.

I can vouch for DG;recently he may have had a new lease of life.....& become a better player than ref.(Not that it'd be hard....).

For reasons too long-winded to go on here, can give some advice re.booking 5-a-side/11-a-side venues, should it be required....

Dunno about anyone else, but I wouldn't be interested in playing indoors. It's a different game altogether.

True enough. I'm good at indoor football. Faster game, so less time to make a mistake, innit?

Of course the logical progression from this is to register Do Better FC (or call ourselves Bronsky Casablanca, whatever) in a local Power League. We can register two players as Trev Meath and Gilchrist, so we can play ringers every week.

I'd like to be available, but I have training on Thursday nights.

Someone wanted to do something like this on FA Cup final day each year. Can'ty remember who, though. Someone who had no chance of actually being there. Spurs fan, probably.

If I can find an outdoor venue in Central London, I'll gladly book that, but I haven't found one yet. I've had a tip-off that there's one near Victoria station, so I'll look into that too.
