That's nothing. I switched my captaincy from Berbatov to Anelka. And Santa Cruz is yet to play against Derby.

I hate the captain thing. Just give points for goals, assists and clean sheets! There's no need to add bells and whistles. You can have a great 11 but be miles behind if you pick the wrong skipper.

I made the exact same transfer as you this week, statto (sold Kitson, bought Santa Cruz), but switched captains from Ronaldo to Berbatov at the last minute as I thought Ronaldo might be rested. Result! And I just scraped through in the Fantasy Cup as well. By four points.

Shouldn't have left Joe Hart (9 points) and Titus Bramble (6) on the bench, but I guess I can't complain after a week like this.

I'm not too crazy about the captain thing either. Of course, it's great when you get it right like I did this week, but it makes too big a difference for being so much down to luck.

Having watched Berbatov hit some beautiful shots which didn't quite go in I thought he was due a hatful, so bought him and made him skipper. Also brought in Cahill who's hit form.

I wonder if Christiano Ronaldo will get the highest ever points average for a player this season. Any team that doesn't have him is fucked.

Young Boys Nishlord climb 9 places up to fourth this week after getting a season high gameweek score (correct me if I'm wrong) of 111. Seriously impressive.

Well the gap I had opened up at the top is closing, with the chippy swifts leading the chasing pack with an inmpressive round. Me, I had a terrible round and I seem to have fucked up by not having Lescott and Adebayor in my team.

Once again Young Boys Nishlord are the highest scorers. They really are flying at the moment and if they keep this up they'll go top before too long.

That'll be Nicky Shorey, won't it? I have absolutely no idea why I substituted the wrong name, except that I've not been very good at substitutions recently.

For some reason I was deeply concerned that I'd somehow got Craig Gordon's name wrong.

Nice piece, statto.

I had the exact same problem as you mention last season - I wanted to start a fantasy football thread, but I was top of the league so I didn't want to "blow my own trumpet" as you say. However this season I started quite poorly so I could safely star posting weekly updates, and I ain't gonna stop now even though I'm top of the OTF league for the time being (looks as if I won't be for long anyway).

Nicky "Jamie" Shorey gets an incredible ammount of assists for a defender (and a goal every now and again too), but this is offset by playing for a team that never keeps a clean sheet and frequently lets in six or seven.

If he signs for West Ham before the end of the month he could possibly be a decent (fantasy) signing, provided he gets to be the set-piece king there as well.

I brought Anelka in and made him Captain thinking he might get a hatful last night.

Yep, I had Anelka as skipper too, because Portsmouth aren't bad at the back and Ronaldo can't keep scoring twice every game, can he? Yes, he can.
