According to the NME, at his recent Astoria gig Jarvis Cocker made "a bizarre joke about Sophie Ellis Bextor being found dead in Paris".
Unless I'm mistaken, didn't the "Murder on Zidane's floor" gag originate on this very forum? If so, either Jarv is a lurker, or the joke's spread far and wide.

I'm pretty sure it didn't originate on here. As I recall the reason it became such a running joke here in the first place is because several posters all told it within a short space of time, having heard it from somewhere else.
The term 'Sophie Ellis-Bextor' or 'SEB' has become a slang term to describe any repetiton of fact or repeat post on the Sunderland AFC internet forum (SMB) hosted by Ready to Go. Although intially limited to the North East of England the usage has now spread to Trinidad and Tobago via the Socca Warriors website following the signing of several T&T stars by Sunderland AFC. The origins relate to the constant regurgitation of the 'Murder on Zidane's Floor' joke around the time of the FIFA World Cup.
I wouldn't say that G-man. It's not great but it's certainly better than the last Pulp album and it possibly has the best hidden track at the end that I've ever come across.
