Speedway just says "The great smell of Brut" to me. And not in a good way.

hobbes in not right again shock!

Tom, that's a good article. Can I copy it and shove it on a Millers' site? There's people talking about moving to the Don Valley, and that's the sort of stuff that needs wiping out as soon as possible.

Funny thing - Billy Bragg's 'Speedway Hero' just popped up on my player... another East End Speedway fan.

As you were.

Good stuff, E10. The question is are you happy that, with those big clubs near, to be a small club alternative?
There are worse things in life. We can't all be Tescos.
There is no doubt that a new place loses the feel and character of the old, we still miss the tired and worn Filbert street in this sense although there are now faultless sight lines and clean toilets and another six to twelve thousand of us. Silly nostalgia? Maybe, but it is important in football as it is in any serious community based sport. And the proposed new place will have no roof I hear.

I want Orient to be as good as they can, and do as well as they can. Charlton have been a good model in this regard. I'm not into self-regarding 'smallness'. I know what it's like to be in the bottom six of the fourth division for a lengthy period: it's utterly fucking shit and joyless and I'd recommmend it to no one. You wouldn't ask West Ham fans if they're happy with the 'charm' of being a yo-yo club between Prem and Championship.

GO, feel free to use the article but can you credit Leyton Orientear with it and give the postal address of the mag?

We (sunderland) moved ten years ago and its been on the whole a success. But only for a few reasons imho.
ie We moved nearer the city centre. Which meant easier access and more pubs within 10mins walking distance of the ground. (50 now as opposed to 8 or so before).
Brisbane Rds a pain to get too for travelling/casual fans. Stratford will be easier.
If you do move try and badger Hearne into creating a specialist "singing end". Its the one thing the ex Sunderland chairman regrets. When times are good lots of fans will sing but when its bad then only the dedicated singers will, and thats when you want them together encouraging each other.

A five-minute walk from a Tube station that gets you into Liverpool Street in 15 minutes is hardly that inaccessible TA.

Eeek!

Still, more questions than answers, if you look beyond the tiresome bluster and 'quips' from Hearn.
