Pretty quiet up here, it peaked a bit earier but nothing particularly strong.

Anyhow, for you live in the south, there is this to think about as well, the blue box bit is the area at the highest risk...

I read recently that England has more tornados per square mile than any other country on Earth.

I believe this is true. I also think we hold the record for most simultaneous tornadoes - something like 101 at once, from Bristol area across to Lincolnshire - one day about 10 years back. Perhaps Croute knows the details?

It was an eventful ride to work for me, this morning. I nearly got blown clean off the road (and over the edge of a bridge) at one point. My route takes me across the 'Hogs Back' section of the A31 to Guildford - a ridge of land raised nearly 100 metres above the surrounding flat farmland, so it is pretty damn blowy at the best of times. Fortunately I left well early, so I didn't mind just crawling along with the rest of the traffic for alot of the way.

Must have calmed down a little, cos the seagulls are out.

I wonder what birds think when there's weather like this. "Oh shit, if I try and fly anywhere my wings will snap", or "WHOOOAH! EXTREME SPORTZ, DUUUDE!"

On the plus side Clive, at least when it's this windy, it can't be foggy on the Hog's Back.

The BBC were saying earlier this morning that traffic in Shoreham is chaos because of road signs blowing across the road. I work in Shoreham, and I'm starting to wonder whether I'm actually going to be able to get there today. I had a peek out my living room window (top floor flat, very high up) at about 8.00 and the sea was looking amazingly angry. A few television aerials have become dislodged, but it looks like business as usual has resumed, as far as I can see.

Well, round 2 begins tuesday night and this time it will affect a larger area, should be a nasty commute in many parts on wednesday morning.

Some cracking winter charts for Easter being churned out at the moment, forget about any BBQ...
