It can make a bit more sense if one is talking about, say, dairy farmers, who are obliged to deliver milk at a given time each morning whether or not it's dark.

ua: but surely dairy farmers are able to milk their cows and deliver their product at any old time of the day. They hardly deliver to a market, per se, any more. I can't see why it would be any more day-time-sensitive than, say, vegetable or livestock farming.

Who knows. I'm as urban as they come. Maybe farmers get up drunk at 10 a.m. like people in advertising.

WoM, non-industrial dairy farmers in Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Slovenija still drop their milk off/get it picked up in the morning.
