I reckon 8 miles is over-estimating it for that clifftop walk. Maybe there is another, more demanding walk but when I did it seemed only some 3-4 miles.

Hmm, just checked on the AA and its 7.3 miles by road, which is a bit more direct than the cliff top.

Yes, 8 miles is no over-estimate. Check it out on the local OS 1:50,000 map, where the squares are kilometres. Bear in mind that loop at the Filey end. We were acutely conscious of the distance as we left it till [edit] mid afternoon before we departed from Filey Brigg and didn't fancy walking in the dark, so we kept up a cracking pace. Scarborough seemed bizarrely enticing with the seafront lights glowing in the dusk as we walked the last mile or so along the beach.

Well well. Just goes to show I'm a better walker than I imagined if I thought an 8 mile walk was more like 4.
