Interesting feature. Especially when you pan out.

Interesting that they controlled it enough not to breach the atoll completely. There's some fantastic similar stuff in Nevada at around 37.1 N, 116.05W (this also shows up in the Shuttle Radar Topography data - it's always weird when something made by man shows in data designed for viewing mountains).

Barndoorio, yeah, that is Bikini Atoll, still (I think) the site of the largest ever nuclear bomb ever let off on Earth (certainly the largest ones the Americans admitted to before worrying if they actually could blow the Earth off its axis if they turned the dial up to "11").

The scale is difficult to gauge without distinguishing features but the crater was about 4 km across and about 200m deep.

Not according to Wikipedia ; "The largest nuclear weapon ever tested was the "Tsar Bomba" of the Soviet Union at Novaya Zemlya on October 30, 1961, with an estimated yield of around 50 megatons."

Everybody get round Reed's. Get drunk on the stoop, use his stove and have loud parties. Someone post a bulletin on Myspace.
