The first half of season three was on in the US months ago, the UK recently and all over the internet for yonks, G-Man.

In the UK, it's moved from Channel 4 (free) to Sky. I'm sick of the show anyway, so it doesn't bother me too much. (Although I'm still interested enough to follow what's going on via this thread rather than watching it).

I've lost count of seasons. If season 3 was the one when the old bald guy killed his evil father, then season 4 will begin in South Africa on Wednesday.

More importantly, Prison Break resumes here on Tuesday. Hurrah!

I'm looking fwd to it.
Did anybody see Naveen 'Sayid' Andrews (tho' he'll always be Naveen 'Karim' Andrews in this Buddha of Suburbia-loving house) on Jonathan Ross last night?

Sadly, the first episode continues the show's descent, as it makes less and less sense (in that the plot twists become ever more contrived) and I care less and less about any of the characters, (given they behave ever more randomly).

you are right gman. i had just checked

goldstone. did you really watch it? the first season of episode 4 makes perfect sense if you have been following the shows, apart from the flashforwards which are not meant to (note jack said he didnt want to go back to the island to hurley, whilst in a FF at end of season 3 he was begging kate to return). the community are divided over the identity of the 'rescuers' whilst grieving for charlie

compared to parts of season one and two, understanding this is like join the dots compared with reprogramming the hubble telescope of the earlier seasons

great to see daniels from 'the wire' pop up

Yes, I watched it. And yes, I can follow the show: it's not complicated, it's actually become the opposite with its dumb approach to the characters.

What I'm talking about is how illogically everyone behaves, making it impossible to empathise with their plight -- the characters are just props to move the plot forward, a plot that's clearly being made up as it goes along since season one.

So many plot threads have been brought up and then dropped over the four seasons, it would take a thirty page thread to sort it out. That's not smart writing, it's lazy writing: it was better when there were far fewer mysteries that kept one interested in and were actually developed over time (the hatch, for example).

**** SPOILERS ****

As for this episode, two examples of many:

1. The woman who had been parachuted down was stabbed in the back, and a surgeon who specialises in back treatment checks and her and thinks she's dead. She's lying in full view of twenty people, yet somehow raises herself from the dead, drags herself off far enough to create a significant false trail, doubles-back, climbs up a tree, then jumps on Kate with no-one seeing her or noticing she's gone. She has a lucid confrontation with Kate, makes a phone call, then dies. Right.

2. When the group get together to discuss whether to go to the beach or not, the dichotomous choice
presented is ridiculous. Nobody asks for details about Charlie's message; no-one considers sending a scouting party, or any other alternatives; the characters just trot off in their two groups for dramatic purposes. Nothing anyone does any longer seems to stem from the dynamic of their character, as it did in the first season; things just happen.

I will give you one, that was stupid. The plot has been dumbed down a bit maybe, the threads running through season two and three though are slowly being resolved. The story I had forgotten was that sayid hadnt seen locke since he blew the sub up. Naveen Andrews thinks season 2 and 3 were a bit vacant whilst one was superb, I disagree and think the opposite is true

I really do think ben is going to turn out to be the good guy. regarding your second point - maybe, but its all elements of trust etc and they spend too much time standing around arguing about stuff

BTW, has jacks actor lost weight?

He did look pretty gaunt, unlike Hurley, who must know of a secret chocolate factory hidden in a hatch somewhere on the island.

OK so I've just started watching this....so I'm not gonna read the thread. The usual fears of missing too many episodes of a series made me avoid it originally.

Twas the Scousermoo's birthday last week and I got her the series 1-3 boxset from Magic Pricing* as recommended by Hobbes a while back - US$90. A bargain methinks and she's a big fan though missed series 3.

Series 4 has just started here. So I'll be watching series 4 while catching up on the first 3 series.

Thus far watched the pilot episodes.

* For those tempted to splash out at Magic Pricing....of the 21 discs in the box, discs 1 (scratched) and 3 (not obviously scratched so I dunno) of series 1 wouldn't play. All the rest seemed fine ie the menu screen came up and the thing started to play the first episode on the disc, although that's as far as I've got as a test (after disc 1 got nowhere I was fearing the worst so tried them all but obviously haven't watched them) And its a pretty cool presentation box that looks like an official release. I've emailed them with the problem and let's see what their response is. Let's face it I've had worse from HMV etc.
The missing episodes I've torrented

I thought he just meant he had a man on the inside, as it were. We already know he has had contact with the outside world.

This latest episode was an improvement, I thought. At least, I'm going to keep watching (as if one could stop at this point however bad it gets).
