Have you got a Decathlon near you, LC? It's the "trocathlon" at the moment. Might be worth popping along if you're looking for a bargain.

Yesterday in my local branch I saw a carbon monocoque Colnago, all-Campag Veloce, for 600 euros, and two Looks for 700. Plus good Ambrosio wheels for 50, decent Mavic for 25...

Hmm - there's a decathlon about 30k away... looks like it's suddenly worth a visit

Kuhsek! Where have you been hiding? Do you hibernate 'til the cycling season restarts?

I learned this evening that my brother Tim has driven from Nantwich to Bournmouth to be measured for a bespoke Cervélo bike that's going to cost him slightly more than GBP 6000. (That's €8,000 fact fans.)

More details as and when I get them.

Oooh. Spare no detail, no matter how seemingly trivial.

"Oooh. Spare no detail, no matter how seemingly trivial."

The main detail I'm interested in is how can he afford it? He's a teacher and his wife's a nurse. My best guess is a second-mortgage.

Anyway, he arrives in A'dam this evening, so I'll have a fully detailed run-down tomorrow.

Well, Ms Kuhsek did get me Football Manager 08 for Christmas...

Actually I had some work with lots of deadlines. OTF and deadlines don't mix. I don't know how some of the people on here do it.

And I'll have you know that for some of us, the cycling season didn't stop. I have the gelures/engelures (medical opinion is divided) to prove it.

Did you find anything, LC? All the good bikes round here were size 54, far too small for me.

Blimey.

I'd feel I had to be really, really good to go out on that lot.

I certainly don't know how much float to dial into my pedals.

He had to send his shoes away to be measured up so they could make a custom something-or-other for the pedals.

Tim's a pretty good cyclist, he does the etape most years, and it doesn't seem to cause him too many difficulties.
